Engaging with us

We want to hear from as many people as possible about how they want the Commission to work in practice. To help us with this, our Chief Commissioner is meeting with many groups reflecting a wide range of communities and views. We’re also carrying out public surveys and drawing on what people tell us in to develop plans for how we do our work.

You can find out more about our engagement work below.

Our surveys

We run public surveys to gather individual views and analyse the information we gather to help us develop our policies and procedures, to make sure the Commission works for everyone.

We’ve already carried out ‘Have Your Say’ surveys and published the results (for the first survey). More surveys are planned, as we will continue to take account of the views provided and as we develop as an organisation.

We will only ever use the data to help us with our work – see our privacy notice.

Publications and plans

We regularly publish ideas and proposals for comment. We also provide feedback on the topics we have sought views on. You can find our publications in the Documents section of our website.

Meeting with us

We’re meeting with a wide range of organisations and groups to discuss how we should do our work and hear our views.

We have also met with families and individuals who have been affected by incidents related to the Troubles/Conflict. We have offered to meet with many more and we are always ready to talk.

We understand that engaging in an information recovery process may involve talking about deeply painful losses and traumas. Building on our learning from other organisations, we have designed how we can offer people emotional support, working with professionals trained in working with trauma and loss. Commission staff continue to meet with experts on this subject from across Northern Ireland to help ensure the best possible understanding of what is needed.
