ICRIR Publishes its draft Disability Action Plan for consultation

The Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery has today published a draft Disability Action Plan, setting out its commitment to promoting positive attitudes towards people with disabilities and encouraging participation by people with disabilities in public life.

The consultation will ask for feedback and comments on the draft plan. The ICRIR will consider the responses and reflect in an updated Disability Action Plan that will be submitted to the Equalities Commission for Northern Ireland.

The commitments proposed include:

  • accessibility of information, premises and engagement with the Commission;
  • ensuring fair and open recruitment that does not disadvantage people with disabilities;
  • promoting opportunities for participation in public life, such as the Expressions of Interest process for membership of the External Assurance Group that is currently live here.

Full details can be found on the ICRIR website here.

The public consultation on the Disability Action Plan will be open until noon on 17 May 2024. All responses should be submitted by email to equality@icrir.independent-independent-inquiry.uk or by post to Freepost ICRIR.
