ICRIR BEGINS RECRUITMENT FOR FRONTLINE VICTIM SUPPORT AND INVESTIGATOR ROLES
The Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery is now recruiting for frontline roles who will provide support to requesting victims, survivors and their families and who will carry out the ICRIR’s investigations. It is seeking experienced professionals to carry out these new roles, following a trauma informed approach. This is part of preparatory work to hire and train dedicated and expert officers to carry out the Commission’s work from the summer.
Among the positions being advertised are Senior Investigating Officers, a Case Support Team Leader and four Case Support Leads.
The Case Support Team will report to the Commissioner for Investigations and be the first point of contact for those who want the Commission to carry out an investigation into their case. They will be empathetic, professional and follow a trauma informed approach. They will help support requesting individuals and families in a bespoke way to their needs, and stay with them as a neutral source of support and regular contact throughout a person’s case.
Every investigation, irrespective of complexity or scope will be allocated a Senior Investigating Officer. They will be accountable for all decisions in how the investigation is pursued and ensure it meets the required standards, including those necessary for meeting the requirements of Article 2 ECHR. The Senior Investigator Officers will take on the vital role of leading investigations and advising the Commission on the approach it takes towards cases. Individuals who have experience of conducting criminal investigations are sought, including those who have experience of operating in Northern Ireland, as well as those who have not worked in Northern Ireland.
