Have your say about how we should operate
We've launched a survey to find out people's views on how the Commission should carry out its work.
Subject to the final stages of the establishing legislation concluding in September, the Commission will be ready to receive requests from families from the summer of next year. Before then, there is a lot to do to define how the Commission should operate.
We’re launching a public survey to gather people’s views. For instance, how should the Commission protect people’s confidentiality while providing transparency about its work? How should it prioritise its workload? How should it be accountable for its use of public money, while independent of politicians?
Have your say
It is important that we hear from as wide a range of views as possible. You can access the survey on our website. Once the survey closes, the Commission will report on what people have said and how it expects to take forward its work. Have your say in the survey
Incoming Chief Commissioner-designate Sir Declan Morgan explains: “The people of Northern Ireland and all those affected by the Troubles need the legacy of the past to be properly dealt with. I believe we have a real opportunity to deliver the answers that people are looking for, but to do this, we need to build a process that is founded on integrity, expertise and fairness. This is why we want to hear people’s views as we develop our operating principles.”
