How to apply for a job

The job description of each role can be viewed through a downloadable PDF link. Please make sure you read the full job description.

To apply for a role, you must email recruitment@icrir.independent-inquiry.uk with your

  • CV; and
  • statement of suitability.

The statement of suitability will have a maximum word count requirement. This varies depending on the role and the job description will advise on this.

Security clearance and eligibility requirements

If successful in securing the role, you will be required to complete two levels of background checks:

  1. BPSS – Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks
  2. NSV – National Security Vetting i.e. CTC, SC or DV depending on the role

Each level of NSV has its own minimum residency requirements, please check the job description to see what NSV level is required for the role.

  • CTC – 3 years of continuous residence in the UK
  • SC – 5 years of continuous residence in the UK
  • DV – 10 years of continuous residence in the UK

Sponsorships and visas

Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor visa applications or offer employment to candidates who require sponsorship. This is due to the strict requirements of the Baseline Personal Security Standard and National Security Vetting processes, which form part of our pre-employment checks.

These vetting checks require specific identity, address, and history documentation that must be:

  • issued by UK or EEA authorities;
  • less than 3 or 12 months old, depending on the document type;
  • in your current name; and
  • demonstrating a UK address and living history.

Many documents required (e.g. utility bills, council tax statements, UK bank statements, UK-issued ID) cannot be provided by individuals who are new to the UK or do not hold permanent residence status.

Sponsorship letters or work visas from outside the UK/EEA are not sufficient to meet BPSS identity verification standards.

Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK and have an established UK footprint to pass the required screening.
